Dear Festival Friends,

Akwaaba! Obaake! Welcome! Bienvenue!

Welcome Note for AABF 2026,

The All African Fair Book Fair & The National Commission of Culture Celebrating “Voices of Africa,” a tribute to the powerful narratives, diverse perspectives, and rich storytelling traditions that define the continent’s literary heritage.

As we step into February 2026, a year marked by renewed cultural energy and creative promise, we proudly welcome you to the All African Book Fair 2026, a defining moment for African literature, knowledge sharing, and artistic expression. In partnership with the National Commission on Culture, this year’s fair stands as a flagship event within the Black Star Experience, illuminating Ghana’s role as a cultural beacon on the African continent.

Guided by the inspiring theme “Voices of Africa,” the 2026 edition ushers in a season of bold storytelling, intellectual exchange, and continental unity. This year, we set the tone for growth, collaboration, and a deeper appreciation of the narratives that shape who we are as Africans and how we present ourselves to the world.

February marks not only the opening of the fair but also the beginning of a year dedicated to elevating African creatives, authors, illustrators, publishers, scholars, and cultural visionaries. Through panel discussions, book launches, workshops, exhibitions, and immersive storytelling experiences, the fair catalyses new ideas and opportunities. It champions creativity as a tool for empowerment and positions literature as a bridge between generations, cultures, and nations.

As we embrace the possibilities of 2026, we invite you to join us in celebrating the voices that define our identity and influence our future. This is the moment to honor our stories, amplify our perspectives, and build a thriving literary ecosystem for Africa and the world.

Each year, we aim to produce a book event that brings joy, sparks conversations and celebrates written and spoken words. I am swooning in uttermost excitement as I officially launch this year's event with these three keywords:-

COLLABORATION - Wo Nsa Da Mu A

"If your hands are in the dish" is the literal translation of the Adinkra symbol Wo Nsa Da Mu A. The symbol stands for participatory democracy, democratic pluralism, and pluralism in government. It emphasizes the significance of allowing everyone to have a say in the process of making decisions. It inspires people to become actively involved in the communities in which they live, to communicate their thoughts and ideas, and to collaborate for the benefit of all. It also serves as a reminder that everyone is responsible for their actions and that we are all accountable for the roles we play in society.

COMMUNITY - Nkonsonkonson

(depicts two links in a chain). Nkonsonkonson represents unity, community, and the strength that comes from each.

CAPACITY - Boa Me Na Me Mmoa Wo

Help me and let me help you. A symbol of cooperation and interdependence. From the aphorism, “Boa me na me mmoa wo,” to wit “, Help me and let me help you”, or, “Benkum dware nifa na nifa nso adware benkum,” to wit, “The left (hand) washes the right and the right washes the left.”

I would like to thank all our past sponsors, funders and supporters and look forward to greater support this year as our exhibitors and book audience have tripled.

Welcome to the All African Book Fair 2026.

Welcome to a new year of creativity and cultural pride.

Welcome to Voices of Africa.

With love and great admiration,

Grace Dorcas
